For the third day, investigators have been racing against time—searching streets from Los Angeles to the border after a mother was found slain and her daughter disappeared with her father.
On Monday. officers found a woman’s body inside a home in the 2600 block of South Alsace Avenue in West Adams. according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed she died as a result of violence, but they did not disclose further details. The woman’s identity was not released.
Police described her husband, Ruben Fregoso, 40, as a person of interest in her death. Investigators alleged he fled with the couple’s daughter, Daleyza Fregoso.
By Monday, an Amber Alert had been issued for the missing girl, 5, after investigators said Fregoso abducted her following the mother’s killing. The pair were last seen Sunday around 4 a.m. near Ferndale Street and Alsace Avenue, according to the Amber Alert.
Early on, investigators said the couple was traveling in a white 2019 Land Rover Discovery. Later, they said the vehicle had been located in a shopping center near the border with Mexico.
In San Ysidro, a security guard found the SUV shortly before 9:15 p.m. Monday at 4575 Camino De La Plaza, according to Officer S. Foster of the San Diego Police Department. Police have kept the focus on finding Daleyza and determining where Fregoso may have gone.
Investigators said Fregoso made statements suggesting he intended to leave the country. They described Daleyza as 3 feet tall and 45 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Fregoso is about 5 feet 9 tall and weighs about 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, according to authorities.

Why would they say “fled” like it’s a road trip… so sad.
Land Rover Discovery at the border just sounds like one of those movies. But Amber Alerts usually lead to something fast right? I’m just confused how the mom was found and the kid was already gone.
They found the body in West Adams and then he’s “person of interest”?? Like… if he’s the husband then isn’t that basically guilty already? Also Ferndale St and Alsace Ave… I know that area and it’s not like it’s super far, so how’d he get to San Ysidro that quick?
This is terrible. I saw something about a white 2019 Land Rover and thought it might’ve been stolen but then they “located it” by a shopping center near Mexico so maybe it’s not stolen? If he already made statements about leaving the country then how come they didn’t catch him at the border cameras or whatever? Idk, just seems like they’re always a day behind these days.
