Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Select hits $17.99

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is down to $17.99 from a $39.99 RRP—a 55% discount—bringing 4K Ultra HD and HDR10+ streaming to older or non-smart TVs, with Alexa Voice Remote controls and support for major apps.

A boxy little streaming stick has just dropped to a price that feels almost too good to ignore. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Select is now $17.99, down from its $39.99 RRP—55% off—and it matches the lowest price seen so far this year.

For that under-$18 cost, the promise is simple: bring 4K Ultra HD and HDR10+ to an older TV, or any set that doesn’t have “smart” features built in. It’s designed as a budget upgrade for people who want a modern streaming setup without replacing the screen.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs Amazon’s newer Vega OS. Amazon positions that as a way to get faster app launches and a lighter Fire TV experience. You also get 8GB of storage, Wi‑Fi 5, and Bluetooth—enough hardware muscle to keep everyday streaming smooth.

Controlling it is an Alexa Voice Remote with TV power and volume controls. The idea is to handle the basics with a single remote, rather than juggling different devices just to start a show.

Amazon is also leaning into upgrades tied to Alexa Plus and AI-powered search. The stick can help you find shows, movies, scenes, sports, and recommendations faster—less scrolling, more “press and play.”

On the content side, it supports major streaming apps including Prime Video, Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, YouTube, and Max. It also includes free and live TV options through Fire TV, adding another route to entertainment when you’re not sure what you want yet.

For anyone staring at a non-smart or older TV and wondering whether the setup is worth it, this price lands right in the sweet spot: a 4K-capable streaming stick priced low enough that the upgrade doesn’t demand much patience—or a bigger commitment like a long wait for Prime Day.

  1. Wait so this makes any TV 4K? Like even if it’s old-old?? I don’t trust the hype but $18 is hard to ignore. Also do you still need Wi-Fi or is it like magic.

  2. Vega OS sounds like the old Samsung thing, so I’m already worried it’ll lag. But if it actually has 8GB storage then maybe it won’t freeze like my other Fire thing. Also the Alexa search being AI… isn’t that just ads but faster?

  3. I saw this on my feed and thought it was a phone thing at first. If my TV isn’t “smart” but it’s got HDMI, then this should work right? My cousin said you don’t even need the Alexa remote for YouTube, but then again YouTube always changes stuff so idk. For $17.99 I guess it’s worth trying, but I’m still gonna keep the TV remote too cause the volume buttons never work how I want.
