Throughout almost the entirety of his professional tennis career, Frances Tiafoe has had the support of his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, whom he has been dating since 2015. On September 11, he’ll play in the Semifinals of the US Open for the third time as he seeks his first Grand Slam tournament win.
Broomfield has been in the stands cheering Tiafoe on throughout the tournament. He previously gushed over her support in an interview with ATP earlier this year, telling the outlet, “She’s been critical not only for my career, but for my life. She’s so solid. She’s been there for me for so many years, and happy to have her, very important.”

Broomfield is a content creator and fashion influencer. In 2024, she created the Ayan Broomfield Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides tennis athleticwear and equipment to underprivileged youth.
In 2014 and 2015, Broomfield played professional tennis. She competed in singles, as well as doubles with her partner, Maria Patrascu. The women peaked at No. 467 in world doubles rankings.
She then played tennis at Clemson University and UCLA. When she was a senior, she and her UCLA doubles partner Gabby Andrews won the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship.
In 2021, Broomfield served as a body double in the film King Richard. She stepped in for Saniyya Sidney, who played Venus Williams in the movie. “I had so much fun shooting the tennis scenes as @venuswilliams for the new movie @kingrichardfilm!” Broomfield wrote on Instagram, along with photos and videos from set, including a shot with Will Smith, who played Venus and Serena Williams’ father.
How did Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield meet?
Tiafoe and Broomfield met when they were teenagers in 2015. They had both recently started their professional tennis careers and were reportedly introduced by fellow tennis player and mutual friend Vickie Duval.
Per First Sportz, Duval encouraged Tiafoe to reach out to Broomfield, which prompted him to message her on Instagram. He asked for her phone number, met her family, and the rest is history. According to anniversary posts on social media, they started dating on September 8, 2015.

Tiafoe first posted with Broomfield on Instagram in 2015. “Great week in boca with @ayanbroomfield,” he wrote “had a amazing time with you and Im gonna miss you sooo much hope you have great time during the holidays with the family.”
Where is Ayan Broomfield from?
Broomfield was born in Ontario, Canada, and grew up there. She moved to the United States for college in 2016 to further her tennis career at Clemson University in South Carolina.
After one year at Clemson, Broomfield transferred to UCLA in California. She graduated in 2020 and settled in Los Angeles, although she seemingly lives in New York City now.
