Ali Larter Praises Taylor Sheridan’s Women in Landman

Ali Larter says Taylor Sheridan writes women with “dynamic and powerful” energy, while teasing what season 3 might hold for her Landman character, Angela.

Ali Larter has watched a lot of Taylor Sheridan stories evolve—from his on-screen beginnings to his writing credits that fueled some of the biggest titles in modern Hollywood. But at the Newport Beach TV Fest sponsored by Visit Newport Beach. it was Sheridan’s approach to women that grabbed her attention.

“I love that he creates dynamic and powerful women,” the 50-year-old Landman star told Us Weekly. She was there to talk about what Sheridan has in store for her character, Angela, in season 3—and she sounded genuinely thrilled by the uncertainty.

With Angela. Larter said. “she’s someone who loves her family. loves to have a good time and she has this big. huge heart.” Then she leaned into what makes the role feel so alive: “For me. it’s been a dream getting to play her. I never know what’s going to come out of her mouth — but we figure it out on set — and it’s always a joy and a blast to play her.”.

Landman—Sheridan’s newest hit series—arrived after Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Lioness. The Paramount+ show introduced Billy Bob Thornton as a corporate fixer working for an oil titan in a West Texas-set drama built on life-and-death stakes.

In Landman, Larter plays Tommy’s wife alongside their onscreen daughter Ainsley, portrayed by Michelle Randolph. And while season 3 is already moving forward, Larter said she can’t map out what comes next.

Before filming began on season 3, she teased how deep the cast’s chemistry has grown. “I really can’t even assume or try to guess what Taylor is going to imagine for season 3. ” Larter shared at the event. “One thing I know is that to be able to get this far into our story lines. we all know each other. So the characters really understand what their dynamics are.”.

She added that Sheridan will build from there: “And I think what’s nice is that it’s not the first time. So when you’re going back down, it’s not the anxiety and the nervousness. You’ll get a little bit of the jitters, but to be able to go down and just do what we love [is wonderful].”

Her co-stars have echoed the idea that Sheridan’s work locks in character relationships—just with different layers. Andy Garcia, 70, admitted he’s also keeping expectations flexible about what still might be coming.

“I’m in Taylor’s hands. I’m in it to win it. So, whatever he wants or has plans for me, I’m ready to execute,” Garcia told Us. “It all starts from the writing. He’s the writer — and he’s the storyteller — and I think he writes all the characters in a very specific way. They are very well rounded and the stories are intertwined in a way that’s very engaging and he has a flair for the dramatic.”.

Garcia continued. “He also [has] an understanding of humanity and empathy and he has an insight into relationships that are very keen. Whether it’s husband and wife, or father and daughter, or father and son, or in case maybe a businessman. It’s a privilege. When you have great writing, it’s always a privilege.”.

For now, Landman’s season 3 future belongs to Sheridan’s imagination—Angela included. But Larter’s message was clear: when Angela speaks, it’s never a guess. It’s a process, built on trust, set energy, and Sheridan’s way of letting women feel both grounded and fully dimensional.
