Alaska Adds New Sonoma Routes for Winter Travel

Sonoma routes – Alaska Airlines will launch three seasonal routes from Sonoma for the winter season, plus it is returning to Long Beach.
A new batch of flights is set to make Sonoma’s wine country easier to reach by air this winter, with Alaska Airlines announcing three seasonal routes from Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport.
The carrier plans to begin service from STS to Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Boise starting Nov. 1. All three routes are scheduled as seasonal winter flying, running through late April, giving travelers another way to arrive directly without routing through larger Bay Area airports.
The timing matters for visitors, because winter travel typically looks different than peak summer demand. When more nonstop options appear, it can also reshape weekend planning for both weekenders and event travelers heading toward Sonoma wineries.
In practical terms, Alaska’s STS schedule is designed around the winter months: Boise service runs from Nov.. 1 through April 19, Phoenix runs from Nov.. 1 through April 21, and Salt Lake City runs from Nov.. 1 through April 21.. Alaska will operate each of these routes with an Embraer 175. and for some markets it plans “up to daily” service during the season.
Meanwhile. Sonoma County has already been seeing momentum on the air travel front. and Alaska’s expansion arrives as the region continues to grow its connectivity.. Misryoum notes that more seasonal capacity can also help balance demand across the year. rather than concentrating travel patterns only in high season.
On the wider California map, Alaska is also returning to Long Beach. The airline will launch nonstop flights from Long Beach Airport (LGB) to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on Sept. 8, marking the first time it has served LGB in more than a decade.
That Long Beach link is especially relevant for travelers looking beyond the mainland. since the route is positioned to connect with Hawaiian Airlines services from Long Beach to Honolulu and Maui under Alaska Air Group.. Misryoum also highlights that the move reinforces Alaska’s West Coast network while adding a convenient airport option for Southern California travelers.
At a glance. Alaska’s new Sonoma routes and its Long Beach return underscore a clear strategy: grow connections that support both leisure travel and practical regional hopping.. With additional flying capacity. travelers may find it easier to match flight schedules to tasting itineraries. family trips. and quick getaways.
