A longtime Medford breakfast favorite is closing

The Paul Revere Restaurant will serve its final customers on Aug. 30, after more than 20 years in business.
After more than two decades of all-day breakfasts and Revolutionary War-themed decor and menu items, a cozy West Medford restaurant is closing its doors for good.
The Paul Revere Restaurant, a longtime neighborhood fixture at the corner of High Street and Canal Street, will serve its final “Samuel Prescotts,” “Two Lanterns,” and “Benedict Arnold’s” — featuring eggs, French toast, pancakes and biscuits — and other breakfast favorites on Aug. 30.
In a letter to customers posted on social media on Friday, the owners, Joseph Schandra Jr. and Sr., said they are closing the restaurant due to an unexpected, serious medical hardship and retirement.
“For many years, this restaurant has been more than a business – it has been a community and a family,” the letter said. “We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, and countless meals together.”
It continued, “Your support, kindness, and loyalty have meant more to us and our team than words could ever express.”
The owners extended their gratitude to their customers, staff, vendors, and partners.
The owners did not immediately return a request for additional comment.
Longtime customers were swift to thank the owners for providing a community space and to share their memories online, from curing hangovers to family breakfasts to being their go-to place for coffee and breakfast.
As one commenter said, “Your restaurant was a staple in the square. You all will be missed.”
