Namibia is reported to have the most affordable fuel pump prices among CMA member states as of May 2026, despite a recent increase.
Staff Reporter DESPITE the recent fuel price hike, Namibia currently has the most affordable fuel pump prices among the Common Monetary Area (CMA) member states as of May 2026.. This was highlighted by the Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, during a recent briefing on the country’s fuel supply situation.. He emphasised that Namibia currently leads in having the most affordable fuel pump prices compared to other CMA member states, namely South Africa,
Lesotho and Eswatini.. He pointed out that in Namibia, the petrol price is N$23.38 per litre in May 2026, while it is N$26.63 per litre in South Africa, N$25.90 per litre in Lesotho, and N$25.27 per litre in Eswatini.. Furthermore, he noted that the price of diesel is N$29.53 per litre in Namibia, compared to N$31.17 per litre in South Africa, N$34.75 per litre in Lesotho, and N$31.60 per litre in Eswatini.. Amutse also drew
comparisons with Zambia and Zimbabwe, emphasising that fuel pump prices are also currently higher in these countries than in Namibia.. He noted that petrol costs N$24.07 per litre in Zambia and N$34.73 per litre in Zimbabwe, while diesel costs N$30.14 per litre in Zambia and N$34.89 per litre in Zimbabwe.. “The Namibian Government remains fully committed to balancing the sustainability of the fuel supply system with the need to protect consumers and maintain economic stability..
