Bears Not Part of NFL’s International Slate

Bears international – The Bears won’t travel overseas this year after missing the NFL’s nine-game international list released this week.

A potential trip overseas for Chicago is off the table: the Bears are not part of the NFL’s international slate announced this week, meaning they will stay stateside this season.

The team was not included when the league released Wednesday its nine international games. a decision that confirms the Bears will not be traveling outside the United States as part of the annual global push.. The Bears last played overseas in 2024, and this year they were not expecting a role in the international matchups.

What ultimately shaped the Bears’ absence was the narrowing of two final possible overseas landing spots.. On Tuesday, the NFL announced that the Bengals would face the Falcons in Spain.. Then. on Wednesday. the league specified that the Patriots would play the Lions in Germany. eliminating other openings that had been considered.

Instead, Chicago will play the Falcons and Lions that were in the Bears’ schedule this year, just not across the Atlantic. The Bears are set to face Atlanta in Atlanta and Detroit in Detroit, continuing a more conventional travel plan for the season.

The international slate the league released covers matchups across several continents, starting with a season opener overseas. The 49ers will play the Rams on Sept. 10 in Melbourne, kicking off the league’s series of games outside the U.S. calendar.

Later in the fall, the Ravens take on the Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 27. The international schedule then moves through a sequence of London dates, including the Colts versus Commanders on Oct. 4 and the Eagles versus Jaguars on Oct. 11, followed by the Texans versus Jaguars on Oct. 18.

Paris becomes the next hub, with the Steelers facing the Saints on Oct. 25. In November, the Bengals and Falcons meet in Madrid on Nov. 8, before the Patriots host the Lions in Munich on Nov. 15.

The slate concludes in Mexico City, where the Vikings will face the 49ers on Nov. 22. Together, these nine games reflect how the NFL continues to spread marquee matchups abroad while keeping most team schedules concentrated domestically.

For Chicago fans, the change is less about what’s happening overseas and more about what will not be happening.. Missing the international list means the Bears’ regular routine of preparation and travel will unfold primarily within the U.S.. a factor that can matter for rhythm. recovery. and the logistics teams manage throughout the season.

The league’s timing also indicates how fluid overseas planning can be as matchups are finalized.. With the schedule announcement process unfolding in steps—some information released earlier than a full reveal—the international list emerged after earlier adjustments to other teams’ overseas destinations.

Even with the Bears confirmed at home, the broader NFL campaign remains the central storyline. International games continue to act as showcases for the league’s brand and scheduling flexibility, while also testing how teams adapt to different environments, time zones, and travel demands.

The NFL will announce its full regular-season schedule on Thursday night, though additional games may be released sooner than the complete slate.

  1. wait so the Bears got kicked out of the international games?? i thought every team had to do it at least once i dont understand why they would just remove them like that seems kinda unfair honestly

  2. this is honestly probably a blessing in disguise because those overseas trips mess up the whole teams schedule and rhythm and players hate the travel anyway my cousin played college ball and said even shorter trips wear you out so imagine flying to like Germany or wherever and then trying to play a full game a few days later it just doesnt make sense and i feel like the Bears have enough problems this season without adding jet lag on top of everything else they really need to focus on getting wins not being some kind of exhibition show for people in Europe who probably dont even follow the team

  3. Australia tho?? the 49ers are going all the way to Melbourne that seems insane like thats the other side of the world how are the players even gonna be ready to play after that flight i didnt even know the NFL was doing games in Australia now feels like they just keep adding random countries every year
