76ers’ V.J. Edgecombe details first FaceTime with new teammate LeBron James

As the Philadelphia 76ers will be led by newcomers Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, there is no denying that the team is entering a new era alongside mainstays like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Another 76ers star who is excited to team with James is V.J. Edgecombe, who gave insight into the first chat with the veteran through video call.
Speaking to Overtime, the 21-year-old was asked about what it is like to now be officially teammates with a player like James, as Edgecombe couldn’t contain his excitement. Edgecombe expressed how he wanted to keep it cool on the FaceTime call with James and act like “I’ve been there before,” but really on the inside, he was “geeking.”
“It’s amazing. You know, I FaceTimed Bron. I was in disbelief, you feel me, but I had to act cool,” Edgecombe said. “I had to act like I like I’ve been there before. I’m on the phone all cool and stuff. I had headphones on, I’m playing the game. You know what I’m saying? Had to act all cool, but it’s really Brian. I was really geeking, I ain’t gonna lie.”
“I was geeked. I ain’t gonna lie to you. I was on the game with my mans, and I was geeked, I ain’t gonna lie,” Edgecombe continued while laughing.
