49ers lose starting cornerback to injury during Chargers game

The 49ers just can’t seem to keep their players on the field as yet another injury hits the team, a starting CB went off the field.
The injury bug just took a bite out of the San Francisco 49ers’ secondary. During their preseason clash against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night, rookie cornerback Renardo Green exited the contest and is officially questionable to return.
According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, veteran defensive back Jack Jones immediately took over Green’s spot in the defensive lineup. The timing is tough for Green, who was looking to string together some quality game reps before the regular season officially kicks off.
At the time of the injury, the 49ers were holding onto a 10-3 lead with 5:28 remaining in the second quarter. San Francisco’s defense was playing a solid game on the road at SoFi Stadium, keeping the Chargers out of the end zone early on.
