MLS is launching four new series this summer tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with docs and short-form moments on major streamers.
Major League Soccer is slipping into World Cup mode early, rolling out four new series built around the stories of players, clubs, and communities as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches.
The league says the lineup is meant to “celebrate the sport” ahead of the tournament. with titles airing in different formats across multiple streaming services.. The four series are titled “Cup Dreams. ” “Cup Reflections. ” “National Anthems. ” and “Breakaway. ” and each will be available in varying capacities across Amazon. Apple TV. Fox. and Tubi. with additional content planned for social platforms including TikTok. X. Instagram. and YouTube.. MLS also noted that other distribution partners and specific timings will be shared later.
Longform programming will focus on introducing fans to athletes as more than on-field performers. positioning players and clubs through what MLS described as “player and club storytelling.” The league frames the effort as a way to help audiences understand athletes as both participants in the sport and “community ambassadors. ” reflecting how local visibility and off-pitch impact can shape a fan’s connection to the game.
Shortform content, by contrast, is set to be more directly tied to the summer matches tied to the build-up. MLS said these shorter releases will highlight key moments from the summer slate, giving viewers quick, tournament-oriented clips designed for shareable distribution.
“Cup Dreams” is scheduled to be the first to arrive, airing first on Amazon devices starting Thursday.. After that, “Cup Reflections,” a docuseries spanning 11 episodes, is set to follow on Apple TV.. MLS also listed additional platforms for “Cup Reflections,” including Alexa and Fire TV, Prime Video, Tubi, Fox, and MLS-owned channels.
Also planned is “National Anthems,” a nine-episode series that will similarly be made available across the same set of platforms as the 11-episode docuseries, including Apple TV, Alexa/Fire TV, Prime Video, Tubi, Fox, and MLS-owned channels.
“Breakaway,” meanwhile, is described as going further behind the scenes than the other titles, with the league positioning it as a deeper look into the moments and people that shape the season and, by extension, the World Cup year.
Seth Bacon. EVP of Media for MLS. said the FIFA World Cup represents a major chance for MLS to share stories that connect to what he called the league’s growth.. He emphasized that the project is not just about producing sports content. but about putting players. their communities. and the journeys linking fans to the sport in the foreground.
This launch adds to a larger slate of soccer documentaries MLS says it will participate in this year. which the league described as one of the most historic soccer years in North America.. With the World Cup acting as the centerpiece. MLS is effectively stacking its media calendar. using the lead-up and the summer window to build momentum and deepen familiarity with the people at the heart of the league.
The 23rd FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by 16 cities across the United States. Canada. and Mexico next month. marking the first time the tournament is split across three nations.. MLS also pointed out that the number of participating teams will increase from 32 to 48. a structural change that is expected to widen the tournament’s scale and. in turn. the number of storylines fans will look for.
The tournament itself is set to run from June 11 through July 19. giving MLS a clear window to tie its content rollout to the growing spotlight on football.. In this context. the summer programming becomes a way to bring audiences into the narrative before the World Cup begins. and to keep attention during the period when fans are actively looking for what comes next.
