3 CFB markets to watch on Kalshi

Week 0: North Carolina vs. TCU

Why not start with the first game of the season across the pond in Dublin between North Carolina and TCU? This game could either make or break Bill Belichick’s time with the Tar Heels this season, and he could not have asked for a tougher opponent than TCU.

Harvard transfer Jaden Craig replaces Josh Hoover as QB1. Craig is the all-time passing yard (6,074) and touchdown (52) leader at Harvard. He has an experienced WR1 in Jordan Dwyer who is poised for a breakout. TCU’s defense is also filled with experienced upperclassmen.

On the North Carolina side, if its transfer pieces hit, they can make this a competitive one depending on who starts at QB between Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards and former 4-star prospect from Texas A&M Miles O’Neil.

These two opened against one another last season, and TCU manhandled North Carolina 48-14.

College football coaches out before September

Sticking with Belichick and the Tar Heels, he is the only coach on the board who has a game before September, with the game against TCU coming on August 29th in Week 0.

North Carolina should not be afraid to leave Belichick on the tarmac on the way back from Dublin should this game have the same result as last season. Especially with the last two years of his contract not being guaranteed. The Tar Heels already made a statement in putting GM Michael Lombardi on administrative leave.

As for the rest of the board, unless something drastic happens, you’d have to think that if either of them were to fire their head coach, it would’ve happened in the offseason, not less than a month before the season.

Heisman winner

It is never too early to look into the Heisman market, and the perseason portion has been extremely volatile. Kalshi has leaned on CJ Carr and Arch Manning since the market first opened in January. Both have held the favorite position for an extended period of time, with CJ Carr headed into the season as the favorite.

Both Carr and Manning make extremely competitive arguments at the Heisman this season. Carr goes into the year with what could turn out to be a top-3 wide receiver room in the country as well as possibly the easiest schedule of any Heisman contender.

For Manning, he’ll get help from the top transfer portal receiver, Cam Coleman, who comes in from Auburn. Many were quick to downplay his 3,163-yard, 26-touchdown season in 2025 being that Texas lost three games. An even further step forward is expected for Manning this season with two new pieces on the offensive line and a top-tier running back duo in Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown.
