1 dead, 2 injured after pursuit following hit-and-run involving Howard County police cruiser – WTOP News

A man was killed and two others were injured after a vehicle that struck a parked Howard County, Maryland, police cruiser crashed following a police pursuit in Jessup early Sunday morning.

Howard County police said a 2018 Infiniti Q60 hit an occupied, parked police vehicle in the 7100 block of Montevideo Road at about 2:17 a.m. The driver fled the scene and was pursued by the officer.

About a mile away, the Infiniti crashed into a retaining wall.

One adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where police said they were in “stable” condition.

Police told WTOP that the officer whose vehicle was struck is “OK.”

Montevideo Road remained closed Sunday at the Howard-Anne Arundel county line.

Police said that under Maryland law, the investigation is being conducted by the Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division.
