Toronto – Zegeye Asfaw, ethnic Oromo prominent legal professional, who is linked to the “land to the tiller” proclamation in the 1974 Ethiopian Revolution passed away.. News of his passing emerged on social media on Tuesday.. He has been also prominent in influencing major policies in Ethiopia since the time of colonel Mengistu, and has served in a ministerial capacity including as Minister of Agriculture and Minister for Justice.. He has also a role in
the establishment of Human rights advocacy organization in Ethiopia.. His most recent role was a member of the National Dialogue Commission of Ethiopia – an entity that has been struggling to get a moral legitimacy among Ethiopians as it is widely seen as a tool for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government.. According to sources, he passed away a day after attending a book launch ceremony on the life of Lencho Leta, another Ethnic Oromo Nationalist
