Over the last couple of months, Netflix has gotten censorship-happy with WWE’s flagship show Monday Night RAW, and the backstage reaction has emerged.

WrestleVotes on Fightful Select reports that some people backstage at WWE feel “handcuffed” by the restrictions in place from the streaming service.

Of course, WWE expected “parameters,” but “some internally didn’t expect them to be this intensive.” We’ll see if any changes are made in future episodes of RAW.

Netflix’s recent WWE RAW censorship

Netflix has censored several recent episodes of RAW. The most recent example was Jey Uso’s bloodied face being blurred. At one point, Uso’s entire body was blurred out, practically making the entire frame impossible to see.

Luckily, Paul “Triple H” Levesque later posted the unedited footage on social media. Perhaps that is a workaround in future instances of censorship.

There have been other instances of censorship. During Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi’s feud, the former’s T-shirt that read “talk s**t get hit” was blurred out, and they were also censored when exchanging middle fingers.

Ultimately, it is Netflix’s decision whether or not to censor WWE. The streaming service clearly has guidelines, and WWE must cross the line on occasion.

A lot of the problems have involved blood, which has always been controversial in WWE. Some of the other censored moments include profanity and risqué lines.

WWE is also a family-friendly product. It is no longer than TV-PG era, but the product is still geared towards the families who attend the shows.

Netflix and WWE are still very early on in their partnership. RAW only debuted on Netflix in January 2025. There are still several years left on their contract, so expect the two parties to work out the kinks in the coming months.
