World of Warcraft: Forever teases ‘increased weather effects’ in upcoming beta update

Here comes the rain again, falling on your heads like a memory.
It looks like World of Warcraft: Forever’s next major patch is going to crank the intensity on weather effects in “certain zones” of the game. A very ASMR-centric teaser has dropped, giving players a small idea of the sounds, sights, and effects that they are in for.
Blizzard shared the teaser for weather effects coming in its next patch in a video on the World of Warcraft channel. Elwynn Forest was used as the example of what we’re about to get, showing a few different locations in the zone with heavy rain, fog effects, and the soothing sounds of heavy rainfall.
This comes as a response to players asking for bigger weather effects in WoW: Forever. It does snow and rain in the game, even in the beta, but players like Darthbobz over on Reddit asked for more intense effects that would cloy the senses like snowstorms, sandstorms, and gentle drizzles that turn into intense downpours before calming.
It seems based on the video that was posted, Blizzard agrees. The team has stressed several times over, and in an interview with Shacknews, that WoW: Forever is about the journey more than heroics and saving the world.
“Journey before destination, protect and nurture social experiences, and world as the main character,” Lead Game Designer Tim Jones told Senior Editor Ozzie Mejia, and many players felt that more frictional weather should be part of that.
Look forward to patch notes as we keep an eye out for details on the weather changes and more when the next update drops. You can follow the latest news and updates on the World of Warcraft: Forever topic.
