Woman found dead in Clifden; man arrested after call

Gardaí have launched an investigation following what they’ve described as a ‘fatal incident’ in Galway today. Here’s everything we know at this stage. Gardaí are examining all the circumstances surrounding a fatal incident that occurred today near Galway Road, Clifden, Co. Galway. This morning, Gardaí responded to an emergency call at a residential property. The body of a woman in her 30s was found at a nearby location. A man in his 30s has been arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984

and is currently receiving medical treatment, reports the Irish Mirror . Gardaí are not seeking any other person in connection with this incident at present and are following a definite line of enquiry. The scene has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Both the Office of the Coroner and the State Pathologist have been notified. The body will be removed in due course, with a post-mortem examination to be conducted. The findings of the post-mortem will help determine the direction of the

ongoing investigation. It’s understood the woman sustained severe neck injuries. Gardaí were alerted to the scene by staff at the accommodation. The victim and the man are known to one another.
