White Sox’s Munetaka Murakami gets absolutely lit during postgame celebration: ‘I am drunk!’

Chicago White Sox baseman Munetaka Murakami will need some aspirin after their win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

How do you say completely hammered in Japanese?

The Chicago White Sox advanced to the ALDS after sweeping the Houston Astros in their wild-card series. The White Sox eliminated the Astros, 7-3, in Game 2 at Daikin Park on Wednesday.

If you’re a true fan of baseball, the best thing about every White Sox victory is not their resolve, talent, or strength. Obviously, it’s the postgame interview of Munetaka Murakami.

Were you thinking of something else?

Murakami had the time of his life in the locker room as they whooped it up.

“I’m drunk!” exclaimed the rookie baseman.

“Yesterday, maybe a hangover. No, not yesterday. Tomorrow. Sorry, I don’t speak English!”

The 26-year-old Murakami did not perform well in Game 2, going 0-of-5 with three strikeouts. He, however, said he felt “100%” after their victory.

It seemed like he went 5-of-5 on the champagne.

The White Sox won their first series in the playoffs since beating the Astros in the World Series in 2023.

Murakami has enough time to nurse his hangover before they take on the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS on Saturday.

More details to come.
