Week 6 Wide Receiver Preview: Matchups, Usage Notes, and Rankings

As fantasy football leagues head into Week 6, shifting target shares, injury returns, and favorable matchups are reshaping wide receiver rankings across the board. From elite options returning to full health to breakout rookies stepping into larger roles, understanding the underlying usage data remains vital for setting winning lineups.

At the top tier, Puka Nacua enters a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Arizona Cardinals following a massive 24-target outing against Buffalo. Now fully removed from the injury report, the Los Angeles Rams wideout can be started with confidence as a top-tier WR1. Meanwhile, teammate Davante Adams sees his target share fluctuate significantly depending on Nacua’s presence, dropping from 30% without him down to 16% with him, though a league-high 10 touchdowns allowed by Arizona keeps Adams safely in WR2 range.

Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb looks to bounce back from a season-low 2.9 PPR points in Week 5, a game shortened by a quad injury. When on the field, Lamb commands a target on 29.8% of his routes—the fourth-highest mark among wide receivers—and projects as a high-end WR1 against the Green Bay Packers. Teammate George Pickens is also coming off a strong 28.0-point performance and a 31.0% target share, making him another high-end WR1 option in the same prime-time matchup.

Green Bay’s passing attack features surging contributors as well. Christian Watson ranks as the WR4 with the second-most touchdowns at the position, though his 15.0% touchdown rate is expected to regress. Joining him on the Packers is Matthew Golden, who has enjoyed a dramatic breakout season by producing 15.7 PPR points per game to rank as the WR17, up from a WR87 finish a year ago. Both Green Bay receivers face a struggling Cowboys defense that has allowed the fifth-most total points.

In Atlanta, Drake London has thrived since Michael Penix took over at quarterback three weeks ago, ranking 13th in targets, third in target share, sixth in expected PPR points, and seventh in actual points among wide receivers. He faces a Chicago Bears secondary sitting 23rd in pass defense power rankings. For Chicago, Luther Burden III and Rome Odunze both receive a boost with quarterback Caleb Williams returning to face an Atlanta defense that allows the fourth-most fantasy points to outside wide receivers.

New Orleans Saints wideout Chris Olave looks to rebound from an outlier down week caused by Tyler Shough’s hand injury. Olave ranks third among wide receivers with 10.8 targets per game and a 27.7% target share within an offense that passes on 65.3% of plays, locking in his status as a must-start WR1 against the New York Giants. On the other sideline, Malik Nabers broke out with 11 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown in Week 5, anchoring an 8th-ranked target share of 28.2% that makes him a high-end WR2 with WR1 upside.

Houston’s Nico Collins has been exceptional since returning from a hamstring injury, posting strong stat lines over the past two weeks and facing a Jacksonville Jaguars defense ranking fifth-worst in adjusted fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. In contrast, teammates like Jaylin Noel and Kayshon Boutte face limited upside amid low target shares and crowded depth charts.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans turned in a stellar performance with a 37.0% target share last week, a volume likely to persist with Deebo Samuel sidelined by a hamstring hamstring injury. Brandin Cooks also sees increased involvement in the Brock Purdy-led offense following multiple injuries at the position.

Other notable situations include Garrett Wilson handling a heavy target load for the New York Jets against a New England secondary expected to regain top cornerback Christian Gonzalez, while Zay Flowers maintains a stellar floor as the league’s only wide receiver to post at least 14 PPR points in every game despite playing with backup quarterback Tyler Huntley. In Indianapolis, Josh Downs and Keenan Allen share targets against a soft Tennessee defense, with Downs holding a higher slot rate against vulnerable coverage. Down-ballot options such as Denzel Boston in Cleveland and various depth pieces across Kansas City round out a busy slate of roster decisions as Week 6 gets underway.
