Trump Attacks News Outlet Over Photo of Doral Resort

Donald Trump lashed out at a newspaper Monday, alleging a photograph of his Doral golf resort was manipulated to appear damaged.
The late-night post appeared on Truth Social this Monday. fueled by a deep-seated grievance over the depiction of Trump National Doral Miami. Donald Trump accused a major newspaper of using a doctored image of his resort’s exterior. claiming the outlet manipulated the photograph to make the property appear “shoddy. filthy. and just plain BAD.”.
At the center of the dispute is a photograph captured by independent photographer Scott McIntyre. The image. which depicts darker. weathered spots on the clubhouse facade. was featured in a recent story regarding Trump’s earlier push to host the G20 summit at the Florida venue. Trump juxtaposed this image on his social media feed with a promotional shot from the Trump Organization’s own website. which portrays a pristine. white building under the banner. “Where Style And Luxury Meet Miami’s Most Legendary Golf Resort.”.
“Think of it, The New York Times DOCTORED the picture of the beautiful exterior facade of Doral, in Miami, trying to make it look as bad as possible,” Trump wrote. He went on to call the publication’s staff “STONE COLD LOSERS” and suggested the paper’s subscription numbers were failing.
A spokesperson for the publication responded to the allegations with a flat denial, confirming that the image was not doctored and was taken in 2020.
The reality of the clubhouse’s condition appears to fall somewhere between the two competing images. Multiple videos shared on the golf resort’s own social media pages show darker portions of the facade. particularly near the roofline. which align with the appearance captured in McIntyre’s shot. Furthermore. images taken by Getty photographer Cliff Hawkins during a 2023 LIV Golf tournament confirm that the facade features visible weathering that mirrors the darker appearance criticized by the former president.
Trump continues to stand by his assertion that the clubhouse is “one of the finest and most successful” in the world. home to a 15-foot golden statue of himself. His primary concern remains the perception of the venue among world leaders. claiming the newspaper’s coverage was an attempt to malign the “TRUMP” way. As the dispute continues. the images provide a stark contrast: the idealized version displayed on the resort’s landing page and the weathered. real-world condition documented by photographers at the site.
