Travis Kelce’s coach credits Taylor Swift for Chiefs star’s sensational start to the NFL season: ‘I’m sure she kicks him in the butt’

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is giving Travis Kelce’s better half the praise for his player’s hot start to the NFL season.

In his 14th campaign in the league, Kelce has seemed to shake off the issues he’d dealt with last season.

On Sunday Night Football, Kelce recorded his first 100+ yard game since the 2024 AFC Divisional round and caught his first touchdown pass of the season in a 33-30 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaking to local station KSHB 41, Reid says that Taylor Swift has been able to keep his tight end motivated for what may be his final campaign in the NFL.

‘Everybody questioned with the wedding and all of that — ‘would he be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time [in the offseason]?’ and all of that,’ Reid said on Monday.

‘But he really works his rear end off and I think Taylor, you’re putting on four-hour shows, you’ve got to work hard too. So I’m sure she kicks him in the butt a little there too.’

Reid’s reference to Swift alludes to her marathon concerts the singer performed on The Eras Tour, which lasted four hours.

Swift’s workout regimen involved her running on a treadmill every day while singing her entire Eras Tour setlist out loud and at various speeds to coincide with the tempo of her songs. 

The coach also mentioned how Kelce ‘takes a lot of pride’ in ‘competing and doing [his] part.’

Reid saw that first-hand in training camp, describing Kelce as ‘svelte’ and mentioning the 36-year-old looked half his age only weeks after he tied the knot with Swift at an elaborate ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Despite his production declining in recent years, Kelce has seemed rejuvenated at the start of this season as he’s hauled in 12 catches for 172 yards in two games.

His touchdown catch on Sunday drew praise and celebration from Swift, who was spotted pointing to her ring finger and shouting ‘That’s my husband!’

Kelce will hope to keep the good times rolling when the Chiefs travel to take on the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
