Tom Homan Grabs Fox News Host’s Attention With Statement On ICE At Voting Sites

“Is there any truth to that?” she asked Homan.

“Look, I have not seen any operational plans or any discussions on any immigration enforcement operation at polling places,” Homan said. “This is another fear tactic. This is another attack on ICE and this administration. I mean, they don’t want ICE near the polling places, they don’t want to vote for voter ID, they don’t want observers. What have they got to hide to begin with, right? There is no plan for enforcement action at polling places. It’s just another attempt to smear ICE.”

“Everybody wants fair elections,” Homan continued. “Elections need to have some integrity. So, the bottom line is, you know, the Trump administration, President Trump, wants fair elections. But I want to put that to bed. There is no plan to sweep polling places looking for illegal aliens. ”

“That’s news right there,” Heinrich said.

However, Homan’s response might be taken with a grain of salt as the GOP again attempts to sow doubt about election integrity and trumpet its efforts to fix what is essentially a non-problem ― noncitizens illegally voting. Some allies of President Donald Trump have called for sending armed federal agents or the National Guard to voting places for the midterms.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) suggested back in April that Trump would try to “scare people away from the polls” in the midterms by deploying a federal presence with guns.

Homan could also be dancing around technicalities, given the response of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who has previously made a statement similar to Homan’s.

But in response to a lawsuit asserting that federal forces enforcing immigration policy at voting locations “disrupts” the process, Mullin said: “The only reason why we would be at polling places is if there is a threat to that polling place or we’re serving a warrant.”
