Tired of Streaming Price Hikes? Here’s why DISH might be the answer you’re looking for

The streaming renaissance of the last few years was supposed to be about two things: freedom and keeping down costs.

The freedom came from how easy it was to customize your TV-watching experience, and how easy it was to avoid paying for things you didn’t want.

The other element, keeping down costs, speaks for itself. Because of this, it may surprise you to learn that streaming inflation outpaces virtually every other type of inflation on the market.

Collectively, costs around the industry have increased by about 11.8%, while cable and satellite services only rose by 3%. Streaming was supposed to save us all money, but while we were barely paying attention, services like Paramount Plus and Peacock doubled their prices. Apple TV tripled theirs!

Most households appear to be paying around $150 per month for streaming services, depending on location and whether or not they watch with ads.

With all of that said, it might be time for a return to basics. And by basics, we mean a company you’ve almost certainly heard of, but may never have signed up for before.

Let’s change that.

Introducing DISH Network

Yes, you’re probably already acquainted, but maybe you could use a reintroduction.

After all, DISH offers something that streaming literally cannot: price stability. It is perhaps the most underrated selling point for any service on the market, but its importance cannot be overstated.

DISH is currently the only major provider that still features a 24-month price lock. In other words, if you sign up now, that’s the price you pay next year. There is no creeping increase hidden in your bill, no price hike in the middle of the cycle. You won’t get an email that pooh-poohs the extra $2 they’re tacking onto your subscription.

It’s all locked in from the get-go.

What else does DISH Network offer?

It’s not just the price lock-in. DISH features tons of flexibility that often gets overlooked.

We broke down the tiers here, but in short, households can choose from multiple packages to select the level of channel depth they want.

There is a package for America’s Top 120 channels ($89.99), America’s Top 200 ($99.99), and America’s Top 250 ($109.99).

You also get a Hopper 3 DVR, a DISH Voice Remote, local channels, more than 70 Sirius XM music channels, and more than 28,000 on-demand titles with a subscription.

The official DISH website is the best place to learn more about the many features and bonuses. It’s also the only place to sign up, which you can do here.

Should I sign up for DISH Network?

DISH is not necessarily the right answer for everyone. If all you watch is Netflix, you’re better off with Netflix.

But DISH is great for a few different groups of consumers.

For example, for TV watchers who live in a remote or rural area, DISH is a great alternative to services that require high-speed, reliable broadband.

If you are budget-conscious and concerned about how so many other streaming services, particularly those in live TV, continue sneakily raising their prices, you can lock in your price at DISH.

If you watch a ton of TV, the 2000-hour DVR might appeal to you. (We wrote more about the Hopper 3 here, but long story short, it’s the best in the game.)

Sports fans looking for reliable regional network coverage can find what they seek at DISH.

Also, if you’re looking for one consolidated bill, instead of a hundred different streaming services that sap more money from your accounts than they seem, DISH is perfect for you.
