Manning has started the fourth year of his collegiate career with the Longhorns. 2025 marked his first season as a full-time starter, going through initial ups and downs before concluding it on a positive note.
Manning seeked payback against Ohio State, having struggled against them in the 2025 opener. And that he did in this year’s rematch.
Manning completed 23 out of 37 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown and an interception. He helped orchestrate a comeback that had Texas score 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to stun the Buckeyes.
Historically speaking, beating teams in the AP Top 25 poll can be difficult. It changes to a different level when it involves the top team in the poll.
“AP No. 1 teams were 197-0 when holding a 20-point lead at any point in the 4th quarter since 2004. Until tonight ,” the post read.
