Teen girl fleeing wellness check crashes head-on into car in Plymouth, police say

A 17-year-old girl fleeing a well-being check in Kingston was involved in a head-on crash into another vehicle in Plymouth, seriously injuring the other driver, police said.
Kingston police responded to a well-being check involving the teenager before noon Thursday at the request of her family, according to police. During the response, the girl fled in a family member’s SUV.
Police allege the girl was unlicensed and driving erratically. Officers attempted to stop her, but she continued driving, and police eventually ended the pursuit.
Shortly after, at about 11:50 a.m., the teenager crashed head-on into a sedan near the intersection of Plympton Road and Carver Road, close to the West Plymouth Square shopping plaza, according to Plymouth police.
When officers arrived, they found the SUV and sedan had collided. The sedan’s driver was trapped inside, and firefighters used hydraulic extrication tools to free him.
Brewster Ambulance took the man to a landing zone at Plymouth Municipal Airport, where a helicopter transported him to a Boston trauma center with serious injuries.
The teenager suffered minor injuries and went to an area hospital for treatment, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by Plymouth police. Both departments are also investigating the incident, and criminal charges against the teenager remain pending.
Police did not release additional identifying information because of juvenile privacy laws.
