Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has joined the chorus of Republicans who have bashed GOP candidate Bo French for complaining about a bunch of non-white students celebrating the University of Texas football team’s wild comeback victory against Ohio State.

“Look, it was an idiotic tweet that he sent. I wish he hadn’t sent it,” Cruz said Tuesday, according to NBC News reporter Frank Thorp V. “And and I got to say, I am celebrating every student at UT, and I was proud to be there in Austin, and it was a hell of a win. Hook ‘em horns.”

Cruz did not mention he was viciously booed while joining the ESPN College GameDay crew before the game, apparently.

As for his response, it comes three days after French posted a pic on X of several students, seemingly of Indian and South Asian descent, partying at the Cotton Bowl. French was disgusted by it.

“I heard UT graduation this year looked like this,” French said. “I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.”

A slew of conservatives immediately condemned French, who is running to be the next Texas railroad commissioner, for the “racist” post.

“This is the Republican nominee for statewide office,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) posted. “Are other Republican elected officials going to condemn the intolerance and racism, or look the other way while it becomes normalized. This is how great political parties self-destruct. Sad.”

State Rep. Lacy Hull (R) also called out French.

“Please delete this. This post breaks my heart,” she posted. “I see college kids cheering on their football team. I see Texans.”

The uproar comes shortly after the Republican Party held its first-ever midterm convention in Dallas.

President Donald Trump has been focused on making sure Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) beats state Rep. James Talarico (D) in their Senate race, with Trump recently warning voters he “will be the last Republican president and our country will live in hell!” if Texas turns Blue.

Talarico on Sunday posted he appreciated Cornyn calling out French’s post, before asking Paxton if he would “condemn this blatant racism or will you cower to extremists?”

Paxton responded by saying “I condemn racism in all its forms, including James Talarico saying white men are America’s top terror threat and that he prays to overcome his own ‘whiteness,’ whatever that means.”

He continued bashing Talarico by saying, “Only one person in this race has a history of dividing Texans by race, and it’s James Talarico. I will continue to focus on uniting our State and bringing together the broadest possible coalition to fight for Texas, our values, and our families.”

French has not backed down from the post. He responded to  multiple posts criticizing him on Sunday by saying, “Generations of Texans have invested billions of dollars into UT. Today it is filled with foreign nationals and Leftists who boo Ted Cruz. John Cornyn says we should accept decline. The voters I talk to want to return our institutions to serving the interests of citizens.”
