Target moves to dye-free cereals by May 2026

The retailer said it will stop carrying all cereals containing certified synthetic colors in every store and across its online platform by that deadline. Some products may look different, or disappear temporarily, as manufacturers reformulate recipes and shift to dye-free alternatives.
Target’s announcement lands as pressure continues to mount on the food industry to phase out synthetic additives.. For shoppers. that means the familiar bright shades tied to childhood favorites could be the first thing to change—along with the marketing of newer versions. which the company says will still meet a range of dietary needs and price points.
