A high-stakes police operation in KwaZulu-Natal led to a fatal shootout after a Pakistani national was targeted in a ransom-driven kidnapping scheme.
A suspected kidnapper was killed in a shootout with police at Hluhluwe in northern KwaZulu-Natal.. Two suspects are on the run.. Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says a Pakistani national – was kidnapped on the 6th of May and a ransom of R2000,000 was demanded.. He says the man was released the following day after a R90.000 ransom was paid.. Colonel Netshiunda says the Empangeni Tactical Response Team then led an operation to monitor the
