Authorities say 21-year-old Stavros Floros was spearfishing for the show off the coast of Saona Island in the Dominican Republic when he was hit by the propellers of a tourist boat.. The injury was serious: Toronto Sun reports the accident left Floros with a significant injury to his right ankle and a partial amputation of his left leg.
AcunMedya, the production company behind the series, confirmed the injury to the Canada-based outlet and said it plans on “investigating the causes of the incident in order to fully determine the circumstances.”
In a statement posted in Greek to the show’s official Facebook account, the program said Floros is now out of immediate danger, while an air transfer to a U.S. medical center is still being considered.
