One Pittsburgh Steelers insider wasn’t thrilled about former head coach Mike Tomlin’s newly revealed Minecraft obsession.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently gearing up for Thursday night’s divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns, looking to move to 3-1 on the 2026 NFL season. Meanwhile, former Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has been living it up since leaving the team after last season, recently raising eyebrows by promoting a Minecraft city he has apparently spent years building.
Now, Mark Kaboly of ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show has put Tomlin on blast for his perceived focus on the video game instead of the field.
“Mike Tomlin seemed very proud of his Minecraft Metropolis… The Steelers didn’t win a playoff game after he started,” he said, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.
Of course, NFL coaches, like anyone else, are allowed to have hobbies outside of their job, but that didn’t take away from the surprise many fans felt when Tomlin recently unveiled what he had been working on in Minecraft on social media.
Tomlin departed the Steelers after their ugly playoff exit last season and has since taken a role as an analyst for NBC Sports’ Sunday Night Football coverage on a weekly basis.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are now coached by Mike McCarthy, who finally saw his offense rumble to life last week in their narrow home win over the Cincinnati Bengals, pushing their record to 2-1 in the process.
The Steelers will now look to cool off a Browns team that also sits at 2-1 and has been one of the surprises of the young NFL season so far.
Kickoff between the Browns and Pittsburgh is set for Thursday at 8:15 pm ET from Cleveland.
