The Ottawa will be without one of their notable off-season acquisitions to open their season.
Forward Andre Burakovsky has an upper-body injury and is not expected to play on Saturday, head coach Travis Green told reporters on Wednesday.
Burakovsky appeared to suffer the injury in his final pre-season outing on Monday after taking a cross-check from behind against the Montreal Canadiens and falling head-first into the boards. He exited that game and has not skated since.
The winger had three assists in two exhibition games.
The 31-year-old was acquired by the Senators from the Chicago Blackhawks in June in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
In 75 games for the Blackhawks last season, Burakovsky had 11 goals and 33 points.
In 771 career regular-season games with the Blackhawks, Seattle Kraken, Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals, the Swede has amassed 164 goals and 420 points.
The Senators open their season on Oct. 3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
