Selena Gomez’s ‘Metallic Sunset’ Manicure Is Fall’s Warmest Nail Trend

It’s been a while since the glazed donut manicure first took over social media. But Selena Gomez just put a warm-toned twist on the high-shine trend that feels perfectly timed for fall, by debuting a sunny chrome nail on the 2026 Emmys red carpet last night. Her celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik dubbed the look a “metallic sunset” manicure. The best part? You only need one nail polish to recreate the look at home.
Created by Bachik, the understated design features a light pink base infused with an iridescent gold shimmer. In a press release, he described the finished product as “subtle but special.”
“The inspiration was her Louis Vuitton gown. It was like frosted gold, so I wanted that same effect on the nail—a frosted metallic,” Bachik said. “We played with different textures, and Gel by Essie Frost Yourself was the perfect choice for Selena’s metallic frost sunset mani.”
It’s no secret that natural pink nails have dominated this summer, with stars like Anne Hathaway, Pamela Anderson, and Hailey Bieber all showcasing the minimalist aesthetic on carpets and social media alike. However, Gomez’s subtle wash of gold transforms the classic manicure into an eye-catching golden shift that feels poised to become fall’s next big nail trend.
To recreate it yourself—or ask for it at your favorite salon—all you’ll need is a bottle of Essie’s gel polish in shade “Frost Yourself.” Bachik applied two coats of the color before topping it all off with the Gel by Essie Shiny Top Coat.
Whether you’re easing into metallics or simply looking to elevate your go-to nude manicure, this soft golden finish captures the glow of a sunset and shows that sometimes one bottle of polish is all it takes to make a statement.
