Misryoum reports that Utz Quality Foods LLC. a subsidiary of Utz Brands Inc. has voluntarily recalled certain varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips after potential salmonella contamination was flagged through dry milk powder used in the seasoning.. The company said the specific seasoning batches were tested negative before use, but the recall was issued as a precaution.
In this context, the key issue is supply-chain risk: the seasoning included dry milk powder manufactured by California Dairies, which may have been contaminated. Misryoum notes that at the time of the recall notice, no related illnesses had been reported.
Meanwhile, the action adds to an ongoing food safety ripple effect. Just one week earlier, Misryoum reported that Ghirardelli Chocolate Company recalled certain powdered beverage mixes after similar concerns involving milk powder supplied by the same manufacturer.
