Rugby League Coach Charged as Court Orders Get Out of Queensland

Queensland coach – Misryoum reports a Queensland rugby league player and coach was charged with serious offences after appearing in court and being granted bail.

A Queensland rugby league figure has been charged with serious sexual offences, with a magistrate telling him to leave the state for his own protection.

Misryoum understands Jaymon John Moore, 27, faced allegations including rape and indecent treatment of a child under 16. He appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court via video link from the Mareeba Watchhouse, as the matter proceeded through the early stages of the legal process.

In court, the prosecution raised concerns about Moore’s safety, including that threats had been made through social media. The magistrate indicated the case against him was not yet fully understood, but described it as not weak.

The court also granted bail with conditions. including a curfew from 9pm to 6am. a ban on alcohol. and an instruction not to contact the alleged victim.. The magistrate further indicated that. given the seriousness of the charges. he could remain on bail for some time while the matter moves toward a higher court if required.

Misryoum notes that the magistrate’s warning to leave Queensland highlights how fast legal proceedings can intersect with public attention and personal risk. In high-profile cases, courts often focus not only on the allegations, but also on reducing potential harm during the period before trial.

Moore’s defence solicitor told the court he intended to travel interstate as soon as possible. and that his family would support him while he addressed the charges.. The court ordered that police provide a brief of evidence to the defence by June 9. with the case then adjourned for further mention later in the month.

Meanwhile, the Innisfail Leprechauns moved quickly in response to the allegations.. Misryoum reports the club said it had stood the individual down from all duties. and that he is no longer associated with the club in any capacity.. The club also stated it had been aware of a police matter and court proceedings involving the then head coach.

For the wider sport community, the situation underlines how clubs manage reputational and safeguarding concerns when allegations surface. While legal processes continue, the immediate separation from team roles reflects the seriousness with which such matters are treated.
