Resident Evil Requiem cut content reveals early merchant plans

Datamined files from Resident Evil Requiem show cut features like a merchant character and mission system, as rumors swirl about the next game.

Screaming with Grace (Capcom) A bunch of cut content has been datamined from Resident Evil Requiem, as a rumour points to the return of a classic character for Capcom’s next entry.. Resident Evil Requiem has been a massive sales success, with over seven million copies sold worldwide, but it’s been obvious since the start that the game has undergone major changes during its development, with several initial ideas cut from the sequel – including what

seemed to be a far more interesting final boss battle.. As unearthed by dataminer umesooooo, and later shared by insider Dusk Golem, a bunch of cut content from Resident Evil Requiem has been shared online.. Among many other things, it seems a merchant character was, at one stage, set to feature in the game.. A merchant featured in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village, with the former being the most famous, with his ‘what’re

ya buyin?’ one-liners.. However, while you could still buy and upgrade weapons in Resident Evil Requiem, you either used a supply box as Leon, or unlocked cases using antique coins as Grace.. However, a scrapped weapon customisation screenshot, discovered in the datamined files, shows some kind of hooded merchant character in the background – who was presumably going to appear in the game at one point.. Capcom seemingly cut several other features too.. Other screenshots

show a ‘mission list’ akin to the side missions in 2023’s Resident Evil 4, ‘toxic ammo’ for the Requiem gun, and a ‘seizure mechanic’ for Leon, possibly tied to the Professional difficulty level.. Additionally, there are screenshots showing some kind of investigation mechanic with a pistol in a murder scene, and one which shows icons for Leon and Grace in the care center simultaneously – indicating you could have perhaps switched between them on the

fly at one point.. repair a broken motorcycle, which suggests Leon’s bike played a larger role originally.. There’s no explanation as to why Capcom cut these features, but director Koshi Nakanishi has said before how they cut an entire early chapter from the game – so maybe some of these mechanics and scenes were removed at the same time.. … pic.twitter.com/GsCIhEHfo3— うめだJAPAN (@umesooooo) May 5, 2026 While people anticipate Resident Evil Requiem’s planned story DLC, which many believe will

feature Ada Wong, new rumours have circulated related to the game’s inevitable sequel.. According to Stiviwonder on X, Claire Redfield is set to be Resident Evil 10’s main protagonist.. Claire hasn’t been a central protagonist since 2020’s Resident Evil 2 remake.. Before that, she appeared in Resident Evil Revelations 2, Resident Evil Code: Veronica, the original Resident Evil 2, and some lesser spin-offs.. Resident Evil Code: Veronica is rumoured to be getting the remake treatment,

so it might make sense to make Claire the driving force in Resident Evil 10 once she’s been properly re-introduced.. However, as ever, it’s worth taking this all with a pinch of salt.. For now, if you’re craving more Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom recently released a new minigame called Leon Must Die Forever..
