Princess Diana was ‘worried about’ Prince William, not Prince Harry, royals author says: ‘She was wrong about Harry’
Princess Diana‘s instincts about Prince William and Prince Harry were a bit off.
According to a royal author, the late Princess of Wales was more concerned with her eldest son’s future and thought her youngest would always be okay.
Diana was ‘worried about’ William, not Prince Harry
During an appearance on Daily Mail‘s Palace Confidential show, author Ingrid Seward claimed Diana thought Harry was more stable than William.
“She said, ‘He’ll [Harry] be fine, he’s happy-go-lucky, he takes the world as he finds it,’” the expert explained.
“Well, he’s completely changed. She was wrong about Harry, but it was William she was worried about,” Seward noted.
Harry would tell William that he would gladly be king
The journalist highlighted how different the Duke of Sussex’s attitude toward the royal family and his duties used to be.
“William didn’t like the attention that was focused on him from a very young age and Harry used to say to him, ‘If you don’t want to be King, I will be,’” Seward alleged.
“Harry loved castles and soldiers and horses and all the pageantry and the pomp and William was more reticent and thought things through,” she added.
Harry does things ‘without thinking about them’
Seward claimed that former royal protection officer Ken Wharfe summed the brothers up perfectly.
“If somebody was knocked over in the road, Harry would run out and deal with it. William would get on the phone to the police,” she recalled the security agent telling her.
“Harry does things without thinking about them,” the reporter emphasized.
Diana didn’t think William ‘wanted to be king’
Royal commentator Jo Elvin also alleged that the mother of two didn’t think the future king of England ever wanted to be on the throne.
While also appearing on the program, the expert claimed Diana thought William was “a shy young man’ at the time, would grow up not wanting to be King.”
“William has been a bit of a surprise. Certainly when his mother was still alive, he was a shy young man. Diana used to tell me she never really thought that William wanted the top job,” she added.
