President Donald Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles shares big update in her cancer battle: ‘My pathology results came back clear’
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles announced on Wednesday, September 16, that she is cancer-free six months after revealing she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
‘I am cancer-free’
Wiles, one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisers, said pathology results following a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic came back clear. She has continued serving as chief of staff while undergoing treatment after doctors detected the cancer early.
“Some personal news I’m grateful to share,” Wiles wrote on X. “After a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic this week, my pathology results came back clear. I am cancer-free. Thank you to my family, friends, doctors and everyone who prayed for me, checked in and supported me along the way. A special thank you to President Trump for his unwavering support. I am deeply grateful and will continue to work to advance his America First Agenda.”
Susie Wiles’ professional relationship with Donald Trump
Wiles became White House chief of staff after Trump won the 2024 presidential election, making her the first woman in U.S. history to hold the position.
A longtime Republican political operative, Wiles served as a senior adviser during Trump’s 2024 campaign and played a key role in his return to the White House. She previously served as his Florida campaign chair in 2016 and worked as an adviser for the Republican National Convention during his 2020 campaign.
Susie Wiles’ cancer diagnosis
Trump publicly announced Wiles’ cancer diagnosis on March 16. Wiles issued her own statement the following day, saying doctors had caught the cancer early and that she planned to remain on the job while receiving treatment.
“Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Wiles said at the time. “Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis. I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House chief of staff.”
Trump also praised Wiles when announcing her diagnosis.
“Susie Wiles is an incredible chief of staff, a great person and one of the strongest people I know, but unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and has decided to take on this challenge IMMEDIATELY, as opposed to waiting,” he said.
