A Philippine National Police officer has surrendered after allegedly shooting a farmer during a fiesta celebration in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
A celebration turned into a crime scene in Barangay Aliwekwek when a police officer allegedly opened fire on a local farmer during a fiesta gathering. The incident left 25-year-old Noel Pascua Ocado with serious injuries after he was struck in the chest and abdomen late at night.
Police Master Sergeant Jay Peter Latina, who is assigned to the San Carlos City Police Station, has turned himself in to authorities following the shooting. The suspect surrendered the day after the incident, handing over his service firearm and ammunition to his colleagues.
According to reports gathered by Misryoum, the victim was attending a private drinking party on the night of April 30 when the suspect suddenly arrived and started shooting without provocation. Those in attendance were forced to flee for safety as the situation unfolded rapidly at the residence.
