Paige Bueckers reflects on the Dallas Wings’ remarkable 17-win turnaround after going 10-34 last season and reaching the WNBA playoffs.

Dallas closed the regular season with a 103-91 win over the Seattle Storm on Thursday, finishing 27-17 and securing a spot in the WNBA playoffs. Their current standing looks completely different from last season, when the Wings went 10-34 and finished tied for the league’s worst record.
Bueckers, who scored 25 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in the win, took a moment to reflect on just how much had changed since her rookie season.
“That’s I mean, yeah, funny to think about,” Bueckers said. “I haven’t even thought about all that we accomplished and all that we did throughout the regular season, because I mean, that’s life. You’re so future forward focused. It’s always the next thing.”

Bueckers admitted it can be hard to stop and appreciate progress when the next game is always around the corner. Still, she recognized just how big Dallas’ turnaround has been.
“But to be able to do what we did as a team this year as an organization, the turnaround was insane,” Bueckers added. “I don’t know if it was historical, but to be where we were last year where we won 10 games and I was down bad.”
The 24-year-old also spoke about the challenge of staying consistent during a losing season. Despite the struggles, Bueckers said she continued to enjoy coming to work and being around her teammates.
The Wings improved by 17 wins this season, but according to Bueckers, the job is not finished yet. Now, Dallas has a chance to turn its regular-season turnaround into an impressive playoff run.
