Romance, war, heartbreak, and time-travel twists are set to fuel the final chapter, with fan-favorite characters returning alongside the Frasers. Here’s a look at the actors bringing those roles to life for Outlander Season 8.
Sam Heughan is back as Jamie Fraser, the noble Highland warrior and Claire’s devoted husband. Heughan rose to international fame through the series, and since then has appeared in films including The Spy Who Dumped Me and Love Again. He’s also co-hosted the travel docuseries Men in Kilts.
Caitríona Balfe returns as Claire Fraser. the brilliant 20th-century doctor who time-travels to 18th-century Scotland and builds a life with Jamie.. Across the run, Claire becomes a healer, a leader, and a fierce protector of her family.. Balfe has earned Golden Globe nominations for her role, and her film credits include Belfast and Ford v Ferrari.
Sophie Skelton plays Brianna Fraser MacKenzie, Jamie and Claire’s strong-willed daughter and a gifted engineer who remains a key part of the Fraser family’s time-traveling world. Skelton previously appeared on British television in Waterloo Road before her breakout role on Outlander.
Richard Rankin is Roger MacKenzie, Brianna’s husband and a historian turned frontier survivor whose story helps bridge past and future timelines. Rankin’s other credits include the BBC drama The Crimson Field and the Scottish comedy series Burnistoun.
Lauren Lyle continues the journey as Marsali Fraser, who started as a spirited young wife to Fergus and grew into a strong presence within the Fraser clan by Season 8. Outside Outlander, Lyle has starred in the ITV drama Karen Pirie.
David Berry steps in as Lord John Grey, a seasoned British officer whose ties to Jamie add extra layers of tension and support during wartime. Berry also starred in the Australian period drama A Place to Call Home.
John Bell returns as Young Ian Murray, Jamie’s nephew and a trusted member of the Fraser family, known for loyalty and survival skills. Bell has appeared in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and AMC’s Into the Badlands.
Rounding out the Season 8 lineup is César Domboy as Fergus Fraser, Jamie’s adopted son and Marsali’s husband, whose life in colonial America is filled with heart and hardship. Domboy also appeared in Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s film The Walk.
