OSU blasts three homers, shuts down Stanford 7-2

Oklahoma State used three home runs and Ruby Meylan’s complete-game control to beat No. 14/17 Stanford 7-2 at Cowgirl Stadium, moving to 40-15 overall and advancing to the NCAA Stillwater Regional championship on Sunday.
STILLWATER — The Cowgirls didn’t just win Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium; they took control early and never let go. With three home runs and a complete-game effort from Ruby Meylan, No. 15/15 Oklahoma State raced past No. 14/17 Stanford 7-2.
The victory lifted Oklahoma State to 40-15 overall, while Stanford fell to 38-14.
Rosie Davis set the tone in the first inning with her 15th home run of the season, giving the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead. The shot was also her 32nd home run of her Oklahoma State career, tying her for fourth place on the program’s career home run list.
Oklahoma State widened the gap in the third inning.. Karli Godwin homered for the second straight game to extend the advantage to four runs. turning a growing lead into momentum the Cardinal couldn’t slow down.. The three-run homer was Godwin’s sixth career postseason home run and her 17th RBI in postseason play.
Then Tia Warsop made it a full blowout in the sixth. A three-run shot pushed the score to 7-0, her second home run of the year.
Meylan earned the win (improving to 28-7) after allowing a leadoff single in the first inning.. From there. she retired nine straight Stanford batters. and in total allowed just four more baserunners over her 21st complete game of the season.. She is four wins away from tying the OSU single-season record of 32 set by Melanie Roche in 1993.
Zoe Prystajko took the loss for Stanford, falling to 20-6.
The final line reflected the balance of power and pitching: Oklahoma State scored 7 runs on 6 hits with 0 errors. while Stanford managed 2 runs on 2 hits with 4 errors.. The game lasted 1:57, with attendance of 1,203.. Ruby Meylan earned the win (29-7), Zoe Prystajko took the loss (20-6), and there was no save.. Home runs came from OSU’s Rosie Davis (15), Karli Godwin (9), and Tia Warsop (2).. Stanford’s home run belonged to K.. Chan (5).
Oklahoma State now advances to the NCAA Stillwater Regional championship tomorrow at 3 p.m. CDT. The opponent will be determined by the winner of Princeton/Eastern Illinois vs. Stanford.
