Ombudsman Calls for Public Evidence Following Police Vehicle Crash

The Ombudsman’s office is seeking public assistance, including dashcam footage, regarding a recent collision involving an RCIPS vehicle in Bodden Town.
(CNS): Members of the public who may have witnessed and captured images or video footage of a crash involving a police service vehicle and a private vehicle are asked to provide those pictures and information to the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB).. The office is conducting an independent investigation into the collision that happened at about 9:30pm on Sunday, 3 May, on Bodden Town Road near the junction of Monument Road in Bodden Town.. Dashcam
video footage recorded in the area immediately before the collision that shows the police vehicle involved is of particular interest.. The OMB would also like to speak with the driver of a third vehicle, believed to be a black Honda Fit, which was also involved.. All information and material received will be kept confidential.. Public interest following the incident, including an RCIPS press release and media reports, providesthe OMB with the authority to review the
conduct of police officers involved in the matter,independently of the RCIPS investigation.. This is being conducted as an own-motion investigationunder section 3(2)c of the Police (Complaints by the Public) Act..
