Ole Miss’ Rebels band trolls Lane Kiffin, LSU with ‘Neck’ celly song

The Pride of the South saved their sharpest jab for the final whistle on Saturday night, and delivered the ultimate musical troll after Ole Miss took down LSU 32-24 in Oxford.

Ole Miss found a creative way to celebrate its victory as the Rebels’ marching band played “Neck” at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, one of LSU’s most recognizable stadium songs, after the final minute.

For those unaware, the song is strongly associated with LSU football and its home-game traditions.

The postgame celebration came after Ole Miss handed LSU coach Lane Kiffin a loss in his first return to Oxford since leaving the Rebels for the Tigers. Ole Miss fans had also booed Kiffin throughout the game before the Rebels closed out the victory and celebrated on the field.

Video from the scene also showed Ole Miss defensive back Jeremiah Dillon dancing on the field while the band performed.

“Neck” became a popular part of LSU’s game-day atmosphere through the years, although the song also became closely associated with an explicit crowd chant. LSU eventually stopped having its band officially perform the song at Tiger Stadium because of the chant.

That history made Ole Miss’ decision to play it after Saturday’s win particularly pointed. The Rebels had already taken control of the game after building a lead, then held off LSU’s late push to secure the win.

Now LSU has to regroup from its first loss of the season, while Ole Miss carries the rivalry win into its next SEC matchup. Kiffin will also have to turn his attention to LSU’s next game as the Tigers look to respond after an emotional night in Oxford.
