New Preview Of Maximum X-Men Shows Mutants Stepping Up For The Avengers (As Usual) – The Fandomentals

Marvel revealed today new details about Maximum X-Men, the new series set to rise out of the ashes of Avengers: Armageddon. Launching this December, the all-new ongoing by writer Christopher Yost and artist Tony S. Daniel brings together a lineup including stalwart X-Men and also Justice. With the Avengers disbanded, they’ll step up to become Earth’s new Mightiest Heroes. Today, fans can get a first look at the series, including the debut of variant covers by Simone Di Meo and Ken Lashley, along with a sneak peek at the interior artwork.

After the cataclysmic events of Armageddon, who’s left to save the world from Avengers-level threats? In the absence of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Storm and Wolverine assemble a new team of Earth’s Mightiest Mutants to face the foes no single hero can handle. But they may quickly come to regret that decision when the Annihilation Wave arrives on Earth.

Explaining the team’s mission in an interview, Yost said “To protect a world that hates and fears them. The X-Men will always do the right thing, they’re fighting ignorance as much as supervillains. But in this moment in time for the team, humanity seems to be coming around a little bit. In a world without Avengers… who will save us?”

Check out the new artwork and stay tuned for more news about the series in the months ahead.
