New Foot Crossing Boosts Safety for Waikerekere Residents

A newly commissioned foot crossing in Waikerekere is set to improve daily life and safety for over 650 residents and 120 local households.

More than 650 people living in Waikerekere, outside Lami, are expected to benefit from a new community foot crossing, which will improve safe and reliable access for the community while also helping to reduce transportation difficulties and travel costs for residents.. The foot crossing was commissioned this morning by Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Mosese Bulitavu.. The project was carried out under the Ministry’s Community Access Roads, Footpaths and Footbridges Programme at a cost of $32,000.. The new foot crossing will directly benefit more than 120 households, including schoolchildren, youths, the elderly, and other daily road users.. The Ministry says the project is also expected to improve the overall quality of life for people living in the area.
