Neon teases Na Hong-jin’s Cannes sci-fi Hope for Fall

The official synopsis frames the story through a remote location near the Demilitarized Zone. In Hope Harbor, a police chief named Bum-seok receives alarming news from local youths that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.
The film’s early momentum has been fueled by praise from initial viewers. with it being described as an action-packed blockbuster that “never lets up for a minute of its two-hour. 40-minute running time.” It is also characterized as a film that “out-Hollywoods anything of its kind made by Hollywood.”
Hope also marks Na Hong-jin’s fourth Cannes appearance. The director previously brought The Wailing, which screened Out of Competition in 2016; The Yellow Sea, which played in Un Certain Regard in 2011; and The Chaser, which screened Out of Competition in 2008.
The release planning has already been split across regions.. Neon acquired the North American and English-language rights to Hope in April. after reportedly aggressively pursuing the project following an early footage presentation in November.. Later. it was announced that Mubi picked up rights for Latin America. Italy. Spain. Germany. Austria. Switzerland and Turkey ahead of the Cannes debut.
