Nebraska vs. Penn State volleyball: Live updates, score for rivalry match

No. 1 Nebraska and No. 16 Penn State will meet tonight in historic Rec Hall in a matchup that really needs no introduction.

But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered anyway.

The two’s long-standing history dates back to 1981, when the Nittany Lions took a two-set victory over Big Red in volleyball’s first year as an official NCAA sport. But entering the 44th edition of the storied rivalry, the Huskers boast an all-time 30-13 advantage after taking two victories last season.

The two powerhouses have faced each other a total of 12 times in the postseason, most recently in 2024 when PSU took a 3-2 win in the semifinals on the way to its national title.

And tonight…all eyes will be on Happy Valley as Nebraska, riding a 44-game regular-season win streak, enters one of the toughest environments in college volleyball.

Before the match kicks off, let’s take a look at both squads.

No. 1 Nebraska

Can Nebraska continue to dominate the scene in tonight’s contest? The top team in the nation enters tonight with a perfect 13-0 record on the season, with four ranked wins while only dropping three sets. A large part of the Huskers’ success is fueled by senior middle Andi Jackson, who’s coming off AVCA Player of the Week and Big Ten Player of the Week honors after averaging 3.33 kills per set and 1.56 blocks per set in Nebraska’s three wins last week.

From Jackson in the middle to Harper Murray on the outside and Bergen Reilly setting them up, this offense has been tough to stop all year.

No. 16 Penn State

The Nittany Lions will attempt to defend their home court tonight against their foes after picking up a win against Michigan this past week. Outside hitter Kennedy Martin shined in Penn State’s victory, recording 18 kills on a .340 clip from Alexis Stucky’s veteran setting. The Florida setter transfer has seemed to settle into her new home nicely, recording her fourth double-double of the season against the Wolverines with 39 assists and 11 digs.

Can the Stucky-to-Martin duo outshine the Huskers’ defense? The rivalry may seem a little lopsided, but PSU is 5-7 all-time against Nebraska when facing their rivals in Rec Hall.

Make sure to keep up with live stats here tonight for the 7 p.m. ET first serve.
