NBA Herm Calls Out Young Thug, Feud Spills

When NBA Herm tagged Young Thug and name-dropped NBA YoungBoy on Instagram Stories, it didn’t take long for the internet to pick a side. Within minutes, Young Thug’s replies—some quickly deleted—helped turn a casual-looking comment thread into a full-on room-wide debate.
The trouble started after Young Thug posted on X (formerly Twitter) about several of his industry connections.. In one tweet, he wrote, “Free Smurk please God,” offering support for Lil Durk amid Durk’s current legal situation.. Young Thug also shared an emotional note about late rapper Lil Keed. who was signed to Young Thug’s YSL label.. “I love you Keed.. I miss you son,” Thug wrote—tied to the fact that Keed died while Thug was still in jail.
Fans had barely started reacting when NBA Herm stepped in.. The NBA YoungBoy associate took to Instagram Stories. tagging Young Thug’s account. and appeared to mention NBA YoungBoy—also known as “Top.” His message read: “@thuggerthugger1 Top say your b**** ain’t slime no more anyway… how u wanna do it?”
Young Thug seemingly fired back with a now-deleted post that read, “N**** shut yo fan a** up lol.” The exchange didn’t cool off there. NBA Herm answered again, this time using Young Thug’s government name. He wrote, “Ohhh yeah?? Bet that Jeffery you kno waddup from here.”
As the back-and-forth spread, DJ Akademiks also reshared reposted posts from Young Thug’s sister. In the posts, she defended the rapper, writing, “you can’t unslime the creator.” She added, “these n**** know Jeff is on restrictions… Thank GOD.”
That’s when the comments section became its own battlefield.. Supporters and skeptics alike flooded The Shade Room commenters and other pages. with some pointing to Thug’s “Free Smurk please God” message as the spark—especially since Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy are both tied to ongoing public issues.. Others leaned into a different theory: that the whole thing could be promotion for another collaboration.
Instagram user @luvvliyaa asked, “how tf Mr. Slime ain’t slime nm,” while @btsofbarlywarly added, “why is another grown man, speaking for another grown man ???”
Some fans argued the history between Thug and NBA YoungBoy made the timing suspicious. @actuallyybri wrote, “thug and durk beennn friends .. he is trippin,” and @dos. shawn said, “ng wouldn’t kno slime if it wasn’t for thug.”
Others framed it as a bigger loyalty question. @msxarface said, “It’s coo thug picked his side #YBBETTER,” and @ijanayg wrote, “Thug want ppl to pick a side between him n gunna but wanna play middle man with the next man and his beef boy you the fan.”
A few comments even suggested it was specifically about the Durk post. @overly.oak1y wrote, “all this because he said free durk??😂😂 durk got them pressed,” while @shahadahhh_ pushed for a boundary: “If yall got a song dropping say that but leave durk out of it! Thanks.”
Questions about who the “fan” was also popped up. @phillywikii wrote, “but was begging yb to answer the phone, soo who’s the fan?” and @12tnfn added, “Yb next album ‘King Slime’.”
With the comments still moving and the messages circulating, the real question for fans remains the same: was this the start of something deeper between NBA Herm, Young Thug, and the YoungBoy lane—or just another social-media moment meant to stoke attention?
