Nancy Guthrie Found? Savannah Guthrie Missing Mom Updates

Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing as authorities expand searches, review DNA, and weigh ransom claims.

A missing-mom case that has gripped the public for more than two months is still unfolding: Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has not been found, and authorities continue to pursue new leads.

Nancy was last seen outside her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31, 2026. The search has kept Today viewers watching for the next update, as the family works through what the report described as an ongoing crisis.

In an earlier statement shared through Today, Savannah thanked supporters for their “thoughts, prayers and messages” and said the family’s focus remained on Nancy’s safe return. She also directed people with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Nancy’s age and health have also been part of the public conversation. She is 84 years old, and officials have said she is “not in good physical health” while also noting she has “no cognitive issues at all,” describing her as alert and of sound mind.

As of the latest reporting, Nancy has still not been located. Authorities said the scene at her Tucson home was “very concerning” and of “grave concern,” prompting a rapid, large-scale response. The search effort has included drones, airplanes, and helicopters.

The investigation has not ruled out foul play. Sheriff Chris Nanos said the possibility remains, while also describing the situation as one that cannot be ignored. He told reporters that Nancy’s home is considered a crime scene and that authorities do not believe she left on her own.

Multiple developments have added urgency to the case. The Los Angeles Times reported blood inside Nancy’s home and suggested she may have been taken in the middle of the night. Later reports also indicated her pacemaker stopped syncing with her Apple devices on February 1.

Meanwhile, the FBI announced its involvement on February 3, joining local law enforcement. A day later, Savannah and her siblings posted an emotional Instagram video appealing for Nancy’s release, urging the person responsible to let her go.

On February 13. police detained three people after conducting a raid at a Tucson residence roughly two miles from Nancy’s home.. The report noted that no one remained in custody afterward and that police had not identified a suspect.. In a separate incident, a man described as a “person of interest” after a traffic stop was later released.

Reward efforts also escalated over time. The FBI increased a public reward to $100,000, and on February 24, Savannah announced she had raised it further to $1 million, as authorities sought tips that could lead to Nancy.

In March, Nanos spoke with NBC News and suggested the case may have been targeted, while emphasizing uncertainty. He cautioned against assuming anyone connected to the Guthrie family was safe from potential risk, urging the public to stay alert.

The family also kept pressure on investigators and the public as time passed.. On March 22. Savannah and her siblings issued another request for “renewed attention” to Nancy’s disappearance. telling the Tucson community to revisit key timelines and consider seemingly small details such as camera footage. journal notes. text messages. observations. or conversations.

By May, authorities said they were getting “closer” as forensic work continued. Officials also confirmed that human remains discovered near Nancy’s home in spring 2026 were unrelated to the investigation.

Alongside the search, questions about possible ransom messaging emerged.. On February 3. TMZ reported an alleged ransom note had been sent. demanding millions in Bitcoin and directing the payment to a specific address it said it verified as real.. The outlet forwarded the letter to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office later told CBS News that a ransom note was sent to a local Arizona news station. though it remained unclear whether the details matched what TMZ obtained.. The report also described an FBI confirmation that a ransom note sent to multiple outlets included a deadline of February 5 at 5 p.m.. with a second demand if no transfer was made.

FBI Phoenix Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke said at a February 5 press conference that the deadline would not extend beyond that timeframe, underscoring the urgency built into the alleged communications.

TMZ’s Harvey Levin also told Sean Hannity that the note the outlet received claimed Nancy was “safe but scared” and that she understood the demand made by the perpetrators.

Despite the active investigation, the report stated that there were still no suspects at the time of publication. It also noted authorities moved to shut down unverified rumors about Savannah’s brother-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, and clarified that all Guthrie family members had been cleared.

In the months-long effort, authorities released surveillance images as well. On February 10, the FBI shared black-and-white footage of a suspect on Nancy’s property, describing a masked individual wearing black gloves.

That same day, authorities pulled over a man identified in the report as Carlos during a traffic stop in Arizona. After questioning, he was released, and he told reporters he had no idea who the Guthrie family was.

Forensic and investigative details continued to surface. On February 17, the sheriff’s department announced that DNA found on the black gloves recovered near Nancy’s home did not match anyone in the national crime database.

Later, the FBI began examining a rootless hair sample.. On April 16. the report said the FBI was looking at that DNA sample. which multiple outlets described as a possible breakthrough.. However. an FBI official told ABC News there was “no new DNA evidence. ” explaining that the material was requested more than two months earlier. sent to a private lab in Florida. and only later transferred to the FBI Laboratory for testing.

As the case stretched on, Savannah’s own public schedule shifted, reflecting the toll of the uncertainty at the center of the investigation. The report said Savannah officially returned to Today on April 6, 2026, after a roughly two-month leave of absence.

She later returned to a broadcast after stepping away briefly on May 6, coming back the following morning and appearing alongside co-hosts.

Even as the family. law enforcement. and the public keep searching for answers. the central question in the headlines has remained the same: whether Nancy Guthrie has been found.. For now. authorities continue to pursue leads. analyze forensic material. and request information that could bring the investigation to a resolution.
