King pushed a no-hitter into the seventh inning, helping the Padres draw first blood in their wild-card series against the Chicago Cubs, 8-0, at Petco Park on Tuesday.
San Diego was hot from the onset, with Fernando Tatis Jr. hitting a lead-off home run, the first in team history in the playoffs, and Manny Machado adding another dinger in the first inning. The Padres never looked back en route to the shutout win.
Following his immaculate performance, fans resurfaced King’s tweet from 15 years ago.

Fans hyped up the 31-year-old King.

Fans also resurfaced the tweet in 2024 after King made his first start in the playoffs for the Padres and shut down the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of their wild-card series. He became the first pitcher in league history to record at least 12 strikeouts without allowing a run or a walk in his debut start in the playoffs.
The Padres are seeking revenge in their rematch against the Cubs, who won their wild-card matchup last season.
San Diego will try to remain king in Game 2 on Wednesday.
